Prayers needed for my sweet niece 😔*update
My sister in law and I got pregnant around the same time. Last year and we both had beautiful baby girls. We were so excited because they could grow up being best friends. Well, they just received some terrible news that her heart is swollen. They originally thought it was something simple to fix like a hole in the heart, but once the specialist looked at it, he knew it wasn’t. I don’t know what it’s called but it is a heart disease and my poor sister in law just told me that they use a lot of big words that she couldn’t understand. I think she’s also in shock, so it’s hard to process things. She’s also showing signs of another heart issue that is super rare. Less than 1% of cases are this, and the doctor has started medication. They have to go slowly because if she has any adverse reaction she can go into cardiac arrest. The doctors didn’t offer any comfort so they are extremely upset, and I just don’t even want to picture the worst. 😣 I am so heartbroken for them and wish so much I could do more to help.
These are our babies together. My baby is on her belly and My niece is closest to the camera.
*update- Thank you everyone! so her first night and she has responded well to the medication. The doctor says she is going to be there a long time. He emphasized long. The they brought her in for few reasons. When she was a younger baby, I would come over and we would talk about how lucky we got that we had such easy babies. Well, that changed back in May when she just started to seem irritable all the time. She never cried... she SCREECHED. She would be ok, then screaming her lungs out in an instant. I would come over with my baby and they would comment how different their baby was. She didn’t play, she barely smiled, and they were convinced something was wrong. Oh, and before she started being irritable, she sweated A TON! Like a grown man sweats when he goes to the gym. I remember she would comment about it when she was breastfeeding, asking me if my baby sweated a lot. I told her kind of... but not like that... Another symptom was her rib cage when she breathed, looked like it was working so hard. It looked like that when she got a cold, and the doctor told her it looked normal... It did not look normal to me, but I was no doctor. Anyways every time they took her in, the doctors told her she looked fine... she’s just a smart baby... she’s just spoiled... etc. well, she started coughing a few days ago she would get these terrible coughing spells at night and they took her in and tested her for whooping cough... My sister in law took her in 4 days in a row, and the 4th day she went in demanding an x-ray because something was obviously wrong and they were missing it! That’s when they found it. The coughing spells were the swollen heart constricting her lungs, I continue to pray for her and he doctors that they will be inspired to know exactly how to treat her. 🙏
