Abnormal HCG levels?

I am six weeks pregnant. My doctor tested my HCG levels because I had a MC earlier this year. On Tuesday I tested at 4,005 mIU/ml and 48 hours later tested at 6,346. It definitely didn’t double like we were hoping, but some of the articles I’m reading online say that this might still be a normal pregnancy. My doctor seems convinced it’s another MC. We’re running another round of tests this week to confirm. Does anyone have experience with this or with similar numbers? I don’t want to give up too soon, but I don’t want to be naive either.

Not everyone will double exactly on a schedule. Unless they suspect a mc, testing hcg levels is relatively pointless. Seems to be something women do mostly out of curiosity. If you look at a weekly hcg level chart, there is very little consensus for what is “normal”. You’re six weeks though so, you should be within range of getting an ultrasound and seeing a fetal pole and probably a hb too.

That's true that some continue on just fine! How far along are you supposed to be? Unfortunately mine didn't go up as they should and it didn't have the ending we wanted, but that's not the case for everyone!! They're just numbers for now, and should be rechecked along with an U/S. Try not to worry and keep up updated.
