Fetal Doppler

Hey ladies I need input please! I'll be 12 weeks on Thursday and trying to decide if I should buy a fetal doppler? Not so much for fear of issues with baby but just because I think it might be nice to hear her/his heartbeat in between appointments. I've heard conflicting information about having one though. Example: if a Mom is feeling off, then hears a heartbeat at home and baby can have other issues going on but a doctor/midwife wasn't called because a heart beat was detected by Mom, etc.
