Daughter pulling her hair
My daughter is 15 months and a thumb sucker. Since she was little she has always tried to find a string on a blanket, piece of hair, or fuzz to have in her hand while she sucks her thumb. A few months ago she started trying to pull out her hair when she would get tired. I have read that a lot of kids that suck their thumb will TWIRL their hair with the other hand, but she has never had a lot of hair so there’s really not much for her to “twirl”. She only does it when she’s tired or going to sleep. We got her a little doll to sleep with that had long yarn type hair which kind of helped for awhile but she is doing it again and her hair is thinning SO bad on top. If I scold her when she does it she ends up thinking it’s funny and does it even worse. I tried just ignoring for awhile but that’s not really helping anything either. I don’t know what to do. Giving her a blanket or doll to hold onto instead doesn’t help and I don’t know what else to try. Has anyone ever dealt with this type of thing? Any tips?
