Early labor

Tracy

Went in last weekend at 33w5d to L&D; because I was having very consistent contractions for over 4 hours. Turns out I was in early labor. I was not dilated when I left the hospital Monday. But I was 70%effaced and my cervix was very soft. They sent me home on procardia to stop contractions and I got a steroid shot to develop baby lungs. Doc said he wouldn’t keep me on the pill after 36 weeks. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday.

I went to normal appointment On Wednesday (2days after hospital) and was dilated to a 1. Since leaving the hospital I have had some days where the contractions are as far apart as an hour, and days like the last couple that have been consistently 10-20 minutes apart. I’m supposed to take the pill every 6 hours but doc said if I’m not contracting I don’t need to, and can just take it again if they come back. So I haven’t been taking them in the middle of the night because I haven’t had any contractions wake me up.

Doc thinks that if the contractions keep up and I keep dilating at this rate; we could potentially have a 35 week baby. Which is better than 33 but I’m

Nervous!

I’m just curious to hear anyone else’s experience with procardia, contractions, when did you stop the pill/when did you have the baby? Most of my research seems that most women go into full labor within a couple weeks of stopping the pill.
