Getting the crib?

How long did everyone wait to get a crib for your littles? I’m 28 weeks, and want to get a crib and dresser for my baby but my mom is telling me to wait until after the baby shower which isn’t until I’m 35 weeks.... am I crazy for wanting to buy it myself? 😞

It’s entirely possible someone will buy these for you, which is probably why your mom is telling you to wait. But if you just really want to get them now, go ahead... I’d add them to your registry and then mark them as purchased, so everyone will know that you for sure have them...

My first daughter, we bought the crib with money from the baby shower. I was about 37 weeks along when we go it and put it up. This time I bought the crib at about 14 Weeks pregnant and just put it up earlier this week at 33 weeks along.

We had our baby shower early (26 weeks) due to living in GA and our family being in MD. We were super blessed and our family bought us our crib. I am a planner so we set that thing up by about 29/30 weeks and then we bought a dresser we wanted. I understand why you are feeling a bit anxious to get it set up. 35 weeks may feel a little late but if it’s possible you’ll get a crib at the shower that will definitely save some money.

I want to buy ours so bad but my husband keeps telling me we have to wait. Part of it is we need to redo the floor in the room (god knows when that’s going to happen). The crib is actually on my registry, but I’m totally not expecting anyone to get that for us. I’m 29 weeks and getting extremely anxious to start getting the nursery together!!!

We bought all of our furniture. We put other big stuff on the registry, but we wanted to have the basics of the room done before we started getting close to the end.

We did not rely anyone to buy the nursery furniture for us because we didn’t want to be left scrambling at the last minute should we not receive it. So we got a crib (bought from a friend), the dresser, and rocker around 25 weeks. I’m 32 weeks now and we are still getting odds and ends, but I want to be done by 35 weeks. Does your mom know for sure someone is getting it for you? If not, and if you haven’t done so, maybe put the crib on your registry and see what happens? Then if you want to buy it yourself you can get it through the registry. Good luck!

I knew we would likely buy a crib second hand. started looking around 12 weeks and bought around 16 weeks because I found one I liked, from someone I know, within my price range. my mom was a little upset, I guess she was going to make that purchase, but she got us a stroller instead. I am also trying to space the larger items out over the 40 weeks and leave the smaller stuff (under $50) for baby shower(s).
