He dropped subtle hints that he was excited to meet my mom and asked if my parents would care if I moved in with a guy...

Obviously I know where he’s going with this with these subtle hints, but I don’t understand if this is something that’s on his mind, why doesn’t he just say it instead of always dropping hints?

Sometimes I will pick up on it and other times I won’t.

How do I get him to stop doing this and have open communication with me?

It’s so annoying for me.
