Where is your newborn sleeping?

I really want to skip the bassinet/sleeping in our room stage of newborn. We have a small house and the babies crib would be like 10 feet from our bed (but in a different room)... I think a monitor next to me is more than fine... but seems bassinets are being pushed more and more....

What is everyone doing for those first few months?

Am I crazy to skip the ‘sleeping in same room phase’ - I am so against it I don’t even wanna purchase a bassinet.

Both my husbands parents and my parents had us in our own cribs the day we got home from hospital
