my boyfriend is emotionally abusive // i have feelings for somebody

alright, so, I've been dating this great guy for about 10 months. recently I've been and my friends have noticed signs of him being emotionally abusive & so I ended up confronting him about it. at first he was really upset that I would think that & then he started to say he was sorry (example)

anyways, one of my best friends, Z, likes me a lot & she admitted it to me a few days ago. that made me realize I did have a crush on her but not one that would make me act out on it while I'm in my relationship.

L, my boyfriend, I want to give another chance and see if he fixes how he's been treating me because I still love him more than anything. all my friends are saying I should get with Z and ditch L. I don't know what I should do, but I think I want to give L another chance and if he fails after a few days I'm just going to end it. what are your thoughts?
