Plus size and all natural?

I’m currently 31+5 and thing to switch to a birth center because I’m completely horrified and embarrassed with the way doctors have been treating me just waiting for something to go wrong because of my weight. They’ve scared me by using the term stillbirth, despite that my glucose tests (yes, tests!), blood pressure, urine, and swelling are all completely normal. My weight has actually gone down as well. Has anyone else tried to get in with a birth center to avoid any interventions the hospital will require?

I tried to get into a birth center but was declined because of my weight, I was also declined by a midwife center at a hospital because of my BMI. I ended up switching to a midwife at a hospital near by that didn’t have any BMI requirements. The only thing I am not allowed to do is use the birthing tub and I have to see a MFM specialist to keep track of baby’s growth and I had an early glucose test. I have told my midwife upfront that I know my weight is a concern and it hasn’t come up since, she has been super supportive and I get to have an all natural birth without any interventions. Find someone that treats you as low risk until you become high risk.

I am a very large lady. I gave birth to all 3 of my kids vaginally. with my youngest I gave birth at 365. I was induced with my babies because I had gestational diabetes,  but large ladies can do vaginal deliveries and be fine. don't let them freak you out.

I’m giving birth at the hospital birth center all natural. My doctor has not said one word about my weight and I’m currently 40+5. Definitely switch doctors cuz they shouldn’t be scaring and shaking you like that

I have to go to the delivery unit as opposed to the birth centre when I give birth but it’s still a natural birth unless there any complications. I had my first there in October and had a natural birth with no pain relief and the only intervention necessary was stitches afterwards. It doesn’t mean you can’t have a natural birth, I was told it’s just incase anything goes wrong then that’s where the doctors are.

I have a high bmi (39) and I have to be on the proper delivery ward for labour. I wanted a water birth and also denied this due to bmi. I’ve had to have GD test, meets consultant midwives and proper consultants, an anaesthetist and have growth scans every 3 weeks since 28 weeks. I was also given a “target” weight gain. 
I think they’re waiting for something to go wrong here too but so far nothing. Fingers crossed it also stays nothing!

I was 260 when I got pregnant with my daughter, and was 310 by the end. My OB never brought up my weight or made it seem like I had higher risks because of it. I had extra scans towards the end because she was measuring big- 99th percentile. But that was it.

I'm 250, and my birthcenter doesn't make that high risk, but they do monitor my health. Make sure you find a real birth center, not a hospital attached labor area that hospitals call "birth center", they'll still treat you like you're sick. Just research and interview and be brave. But take the time to mentally prepare for a natural birth, as almost all birth centers that aren't hospitals don't have pain relief. Talk to other doctors if you don't want to do natural. Natural birth is a mental prep thing.
