failure to thrive **update**

Kamryn • Ophelia Elaine 07/09/2018 🌈 Opal Rain 10/03/2020

my baby girl was born July 9th and by the 12th she was back up to her birth weight (6 lbs 15 oz). by July 25th the she was 7 lbs 9 oz. today (August 1st) she was down to 6 lbs 8 oz, the doctor told me that she is failing to thrive. she's exclusively breastfed and eats all day long for 5-15 minutes at a time before falling asleep on the breast. the doctor wants me to supplement with formula after every feed and wake her up if she falls asleep while eating. could I just give her a bottle of my breast milk instead? would it have the same effect?has anyone else been through this and still successfully breastfed after getting the weight back up.

update:

we went back to see our regular family practice doctor and have her weighed again on the 2nd (yesterday). the first doctor's scale was off by almost 2 pounds! she's actually 8 pounds 4 ounces! that means she's gained 11 ounces in 7 days!
