advice from a third party source

i love my boyfriend, however they are sooooo many problems. but problems are just part of a relationship to me. it’s a lot of yelling sometimes he’s violent, he’s very possessive. but a few weeks ago we broke up for about 2 weeks and i met up with a old lover from school and things went really well. me and my current bf now got back together and we all 3 went out on a date to a baseball game, so me my bf and the other old lover. it was super good. it wasn’t awkward at all. and after i told my current bf how the old lover has feelings so of course i had to cut off all ties. i cant stop thinking about the other guy and if things would/could be better with him. like i said i love my bf and we’ve been together over a year but i’m wondering if i should stay and deal with the bs or risk it for the other one and see if we could end up loving each other. HELP
