Update on Hunter #2

Alantra🧜‍♀️ • Wife ❤ 1 son 💙 One on the way with a twin in heaven 💕

Today was a really tough day on my little guy. I got to his bed today and his eyes were open!! (not completely but enough to look around) He kept them open for a couple hours on and off. So my hopes were high for him. He was also sucking on his pacifier without dropping his heart rate or forgetting to breathe.

A few hours later he started to dstat. Which means, his heart rate and breath count was dropping enough to go in the red zone. He did this several times after that within, I'd say, about 2 hours. The nurse came over and suctioned his mouth thinking he had some reflux making it hard for him to breathe, and he did. It helped for a little while then he started again. He had also been getting between 28 and 40% oxygen. Which is the highest it's been since he got to the NICU. When his heart rate dropped to 23bpm the nurse came over immediately and she had to report it to the doctor. She came back saying they were gonna give him some blood. She explained a little further that his blood count was a little low and sometimes preemies don't make enough blood to circulate through their body. His blood pressure was also low when she checked it. She popped his bed top open and began the process of putting an IV in. She couldn't find a good vein so my little boy had to be stuck twice. :( I stood by his bed and held his little hand and tried to keep him from kicking her or pulling away. I was trying not to cry hearing him cry and whimper I wanted to take him away and hold him but I knew I couldn't move him. I called at 9 to check how it went and the nurse said they had just began the process. It takes 3 hours to go completely through. I'll get another update on this soon. She said it should be done by his midnight care time.

Hang in there mommys sweet boy.
