What do you think? Donating milk to nicu babies.

Question

I have oversupply & have been accepted to be a milk donor to my local hospital for the NICU babies. Should I do it? What do the premie parents think of this? Would you appreciate having donor milk for a premie?
UPDATE: Thank you ladies for the advice! I will definitely be donating :) my goal is at least 100 ounces a month & at least 1000 ounces total before I stop.

Yes please! I was unable to breastfeed due to medication. I would have loved to give my little preemie some Breastmilk, even if I couldn’t sustain it when I took him home.

Do it!  I wasn’t producing enough milk to feed my preemie so I opted for donor milk.  I am very thankful that this was an option for my baby!

Yes! My daughter was in the NICU for 50 days and thankfully my supply was enough but I know so many who would have loved donor milk. Keeping a supply with your baby not home is so hard

I appreciated donor milk when necessary. I preferred to use my own. Because donor milk is so highly valued, they save it for the babies whose mothers are waiting for their milk supply to come in or don’t have a milk supply, until the baby can tolerate formula.

Yes! My preemie got donor milk for a few days until mine came in and I was soooooo grateful! What a blessing you are!

My son was born at 30 weeks and got donor milk until mine came in! It can help prevent NEC and is SUCH an amazing gift you can give to mommas going through a very stressful time!!!
