Waste of time?

How can you tell the difference between a man who has been hurt before and has insecurities but dosnt know how to show that all he wants is to be loved and is genuine and really does care just has a bad way of showing it, and a man who is just manipulative plays mind games dosnt really care and isn’t into you the way you are into him?

To me actions speak louder than words. There are a lot of smooth charismatic guys out there who can tell you they love you but never show it and choose to hurt you over and over again. It's the guys who maybe don't say all the right things but will hold your hand in public or ditch their video games or friends for a night. That's the kinda guy you need.

Everyone has been hurt before in life. Grown men and women need to stop using "I've been hurt" as an excuse for their emotional constipation. Pay close attention to their words and actions. If their actions domt match their words, something isn't right.

Sometimes there isn’t a difference, those two examples can be the same person.  My ex is an example, his insecurities came from being hurt before and it’s clear all he wanted is love, but for some reason his inability to deal with that made him manipulative and play games, he didn’t know how to show love but seemed to expect it.  There’s only so much you can do in a situation like that, you can try to make it work but don’t be afraid to walk away or feel the need to stay based on the fact he’s been hurt before, sometimes you’ve got to leave them to do what they’re doing for them to realise what it is they truly want.

If he plays mind games that’s your answer, someone who is insecure is okay they will eventually open up and will love you and care for you always even when they feel insecure but someone who’s manipulative will use mind games and will make you feel insecure

I think it is a waste of time. He might say all the right things, but in the end it's always gonna be toxic in one way or another.

There is a difference, I was in a bad relationship before. (Abuse) I’m in a new one now and I’m still dealing with the trauma. But I’ve never done anything that these men say is because they got hurt which was what my ex did. He said he was abused, and when I told him there was some not ok things going on that was his excuse. But I can tell you I’ve never done anything that was done to me to my partner. There are occasions where I push him away and I try to disappear but really all he’s ever had to do was send me messages periodically through the day reminding me he would be here. And by the end of the day I’d reach out to him. I haven’t done it in a longtime now. I’ve never trekked to break up and then come back. I just need my space to calm down enough to be able to ask for help. I still give my all and the only thing that separates me is a emotional barrier I put up and from time to time I can not be touched. My actions still say that I love him and that it’s my own issues I’m trying to deal with and just be patient give me the few hours I need and I’ll come to you for help. I’m not cruel, I don’t lash out, I don’t pin my problems on him. That’s how you tell the difference
