Birth control pills or IUD

Hi hello. So my boyfriend and I are sexually active and want to get on birth control. We use condoms and all but are scared of an oops. We are both not in a point in our lives to have or care for children. I was once on the pills but they affected me so much, changed my mood and made me depressed, that I don’t want to go on them again. My boyfriends sister suggested the IUD copper because it doesn’t have hormones in it. My boyfriend agrees saying it’ll be good for the both of us. But I’m just kind of scared? Like my three biggest fears are: what if it affects when I want kids later in the future? will I feel it/hurt? And will it help or hurt my period? If anyone can help calm my nerves or have anything about it please let me know!!!??
