VBAC??
A little background information: When I was pregnant (almost 2 years ago) with my first and only child, my OB said he was going to be a big baby. I’m very petite, no health problems, no gestational diabetes, nothing. Perfect pregnancy, my little baby was just measuring on the larger side. My OB said he was nervous that my pelvis was not wide enough for me to deliver vaginally, but he would let me deliver on my own, and be prepared for a c-section if necessary. At 39 weeks, my heart rate and BP were very high for no apparent reason. I was admitted to the hospital, only dilated 1 cm. Tests were ran, but nothing came back out of the ordinary. Just before they released me, I stood up and my BP shot up. I began having contractions. My OB made the decision to have me induced. After 9 hours of unmedicated (other than pitocin) labor, my baby’s HR was dropping very low, and I was not dilating fast enough. A c-section was performed (which we expected). Here I am, 20 months later, looking forward to giving my little boy a sibling (not currently pregnant, YET 😉). My question is, if I do opt for VBAC (which my women’s center supports), will I be allowed to go into labor on my own even if I go over my due date, or will I have to be induced, increasing my chances of repeat CS? Anyone have any experience with this?
