What is the etiquette for tipping when using a gift card?

I got a gift certificate to get a mani/pedi. Do I need to go get cash out to tip? You can’t tip with a gift card right, or can you?

You should tip whatever the cost of the mani/pedi is out of pocket. The place I get my nails done doesnt allow the tip to come out of the gift certificate.

I got a pedicure with a certificate and the lady cut me twice so when they asked I said no, she cut me twice didn’t even apologize and I did not appreciate that. So I would say it depends on the service and if it was a good service then I would tip what I would usually if I paid out of pocket.

When I bought my sil a gift certificate to a spa, they gave me a choice of adding a tip into the gift certificate or not. So i would probably bring cash if it doesn't say on the certificate if its included
