my alcoholic father

My dad has been an alcoholic my whole life and im just tired of worrying about him all the time 2 years ago he almost died because of it but he still hasn't stopped drinking he's attacked me and my mother before and they're not even together 🤦🏼 would it be wrong to just give up ? I still love him and care for him but he's too much for me right now I feel like he's an adult and he shouldn't have to depend on everyone
