Colorism: Why is no one talking about it?

What is your take on colorism? 
How has it affected your personal life?
What about colorism in the Hispanic community?

It is being talked about alot, the conversation can never go anywhere because lightskin people can never acknowledge their privilege or how they benefit from colorism and deflect the issue.

I’m in Uk and I’m mixed race. I don’t hear about colourism being an issue here, but then again, I live in a predominantly white area and I blend in just fine.
I did benefit from my light skin when I was in Ghana though. I got a lot of things for free and even got jobs that I wasn’t qualified to do, entry into places that I had no authorisation to be in, and met many famous / wealthy people that I would otherwise never have met had I been a full black girl.

(I did write a reply before this but I deleted it so I can rewrite it)
I don’t hear of colourism happening on extreme levels where I’m from. I have been made to feel self conscious for having very pale skin just like the majority of girls I know, I think it’s seen as more attractive to be tanned. I can’t speak for people of colour, although even friends I have who are mixed and tanned won’t leave the house without fake tan on.
