Can you get pregnant after having a baby ?

I saw a post on here about if you breastfeed you newborn you don’t get pregnant until you stop breast feeding is this true ? I want to have a baby again in 5 months I’m currently breastfeeding my 1 month old and I have had what I believe is my period since delivery. This is my first baby and I would like to have another one so they can be close in age my delivery went smoothly and I’ve gotten the ok by my doctor to try in 5 months but reading the comment about not being able to get pregnant until you finish breast feeding I just want to know if anyone has any insight sorry if this is a stupid question.

You are way more fertile after having a baby. Even with breastfeeding.. In SOME women it stops ovulation that is not with EVERY woman though. If you have had your period that means you have started ovulating again, but just because you haven't had a period yet does not mean you will not become pregnant.

Yes you can get pregnant pretty much anytime after giving birth. There was a lady on here a while ago that gave birth to twins just a few weeks prior and found out she was pregnant again

Breastfed my son 21 months. The only reason I stopped was because I got pregnant with his brother and it was starting to cause me pain to nurse him. Very possible to get pregnant even while breastfeeding, also can get pregnant breastfeeding even if you aren’t having a period.

I have 4 kids. After each baby I got my period 8 weeks pp even though I ebf, so I ovulated for the first time around 6 weeks. My good friend didn't get get cycle until she weaned at 11 months. The problem is everyone is different and your first ovulation will happen before your first period.

Yep 💁🏼‍♀️ I did, at 7 months I still didn’t have my period and was suggested to go 5 hours per day without feeding, so I slowly night weened (I’m anti cry it out so like I said slowly) and not only within a month did I get my cycle back but my baby also went from sleeping 4 hours to 7-8 hours 👏🏼👏🏼 will most definitely do the same with my next baby, currently 17 weeks pregnant and yes I did continue to breastfeed up until I dried up from hormones (around 15 weeks)

I actually had to cut down to two feedings per day in order to get pregnant. Some people can get pregnant while breastfeeding and others can’t. I personally can’t. Hope this helps

For breastfeeding to be used as a form of birth control you have to EBF exclusively. Straight from the breast. Absolutely no pacifier and no bottle. Baby also has to be younger than six months and if your period has returned then it lowers the effectiveness of it. It’s called the LAM method.
