Sciatic nerve pain

So I’m currently 30 weeks. I started having severe sciatic nerve pain 2 nights ago. To the point I almost fell to the ground from the pain being so bad. I called my doctor and they want to see me Monday morning and are going to prescribe muscle relaxers while this sciatic pain is still going on. I’ve never heard of taking muscle relaxers while pregnant. Is this safe? I know these are doctors orders but I hate putting medicine in my body knowing they’re going straight to my baby girl.
