Ovulation day changed

I had a predicted ovulation day of today, and yesterday my opk tested positive for the LH surge (clear blue digital smiley face). However, when I tested negative for LH today, the app has changed my ovulation day to yesterday. I thought that LH happened up to a day before ovulation?
