Are pit bulls dangerous??

Question

my grandparents won’t stop telling me that “pit bulls are killers, they were made to drink blood, they were made to kill, stay away from your dog” i have a pit bull, ive had multiple in the past and i’ve never had a single problem with any of them. they’re the sweatest babies ever. am i wrong for being sorta mad that they won’t let me talk or they say they don’t care i’m wrong? 
update- they’re saying now “i don’t care who likes pit bulls, i lost all respect for people who do”

I hate this debate because ALL dogs are dangerous. I grew up with labs, German Shepard’s and rotties. My lab lived until he was about 18 and he was my best friend. When he started going blind he started snapping at me and the other dogs because he couldn’t see! They were always in large packs (4+). The Germans started getting snappy after I had my son, they didn’t like anyone being around him... the “problem” with pits is the strength in their jaws. But that’s not a reason to not like them. Every dog is different and have different things that make them more or less dangerous... as humans it’s our responsibility to learn about our animals and raise them accordingly.

Tbh I’ve never met a bad pit bull. Any dog can have aggression issues. Although dachshunds and chihuahuas have the highest risk of developing aggression.

Because of the way they were bred, they can be dangerous. They were bred for blood sports and animal baiting. If they are treated and used for activities in any way similar to that then of course they can be dangerous but that can be said for many other dog breeds too. 
However, like any animal with a vicious breed history, pit bulls can easily revert back which is where the fear comes from I think. You have to be very careful when raising any breed or animal that has a past like pit bulls do as it is in their DNA to be vicious. 
That being said, Dalmatians are considered to be a dangerous breed but when I was younger my mum had one and she was the sweetest, gentlest thing ever. She was a big softie and didn’t have a mean bone in her body. In addition to this, chihuahuas are also said to be vicious but look how many people have them around children, etc. 
The viciousness of a dog definitely does rely on the way the owner treats it but that doesn’t mean a dog won’t suddenly switch and revert back to their ancestors behaviour. That goes for any breed of dog or animal though, not just pit bulls.

I grew up with a pit bull. She was a rescue dog and her previous owners beat her. She is the most gentle dog ever. I trusted her to be around my (now 5 month old twins) since they were born. Any dog can be vicious, it all matters how they were raised by their owners.

my mom had two pit bulls she has raised since they were puppies and they are the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. my friend also has a pit bull puppy and all she does is aggressively lick your face and cuddle. it depends on how you raise them
