rant: I don't want my MIL babysitting my child
My MIL and I used to get along, and then I got pregnant. She is the type of person that is very controlling, and will fight with you until she gets her way. If you dare stand up for yourself, she will get mad at you because she manipulates out of "family love".
Anyways, I mentioned before on glow how my MIL has been planning a nursery at her home for my expecting child since as early 6 weeks into my pregnancy. She assumes that she will be able to babysit. Today we had dinner with her, and she brought up how she will babysit our child and reminded us she has, "first dibs on babysitting rights".
Honestly I do not trust her for the following reasons:
- she knows that I am a secular Jew, and she is disrespectful of my Jewish heritage. When I am over at her house, she forces me to pray in Jesus's name.
- related: my SO was traumatized for many years because her strand of Christianity is not the most loving. Not only does she have an apocalypse/rapture shelter in her home, but she started telling my SO about how people burn in hell at 4-5 and scared him. She also read him the most violent parts in the Old Testament at bedtime so that my SO wouldn't have sinful thoughts. He was too young to understand and scared.
- she is uneducated and manipulative
- babysitting is a job. You cannot fire family and that sucks.
I think my SO will be okay with her not babysitting, but I am worried he may be a little sad for his mother.
