what is this? i’ve been spotting dark brown for a bout a week and my period starts next week. i’m on birthcontrol so this usually doesn’t happen...?

I was on the shot and when it was time for me to get my shot again I got brown discharge like that not as much but yeah probably your birth control

I’ve been told it’s “old blood” by my doctors when I described it to them. I have Mirena and this is what most of my period looks like these days. Basically is what it describes. I get it before and after the actual bleeding of my periods. They told me it was nothing of concern. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is completely normal if you just started on your birth control if it’s in between your normal period cycle. I’m actually going through the same thing at the moment. If it continues reach out to your doctor to make sure nothing is wrong
