Cramping but AF not due for a week

Hi all. I was about 7 dpo yesterday (did not confirm this month with opks). Hubby and I BD about 3 days before expected ovulation (according to app calendar) then I went out of town for a week. Yesterday I felt very faint cramps exactly like AF was coming on. AF not due until 8/1. No GI involvement and cramps were felt in front and back just like when I have normal AF. No bleeding or spotting. I thought maybe I was just symptom spotting, but the cramping was more intense last night and woke me up. Cramping is minimal to non-existent today. Was wondering if it could have been due to implantation? Anyone else ever have this experience and did you get pregnant or have AF show up? I didn't have my hopes up this month because I was not even home during ovulation, but I've never had this cramping this early before AF and was getting curious....and hopeful. TIA!
