Operation Trailer Trap: READ before voting

Police from Norfolk Southern Railway took an empty Nike truck (bait truck) and left it around an impoverished neighborhood, filled with Nike Air Force One sneakers and Christian Louboutin shoes. Three people were arrested in what they called a sting, but the community calls it a set up. The police say they were only brought in to arrest but the charges were all dropped. The Operation came right after the weekend were 70 people were shot and 12 people died. Chicago PD claims that the bait truck's goal was to catch those who are potentially stealing guns, ammunition, and cargo from the nearby rail yard.

So in sum, the police's point of view is that they are getting "bad guys" off of the street that could potentially be contributing to the shootings and other crimes. They are protecting the neighborhood they set the bait truck up in and people have the choice to steal. They aren't MAKING them steal.

The community's point of view is that they are supposed to trust the police and at the end of the day, it's entrapment. They also made the point that these people in the neighborhood are in survival mode and "who wouldn't take the shoes?"
