So we're having our anatomy scan on Wednesday and hopefully (fingers crossed) we will find out pink or blue. We have a huge dinner scheduled with our close friends and family to reveal the big surprise... Well my mom decides it's more important to go see Tony Stewart at Bass Pro Shops and "possibly" get an autograph and picture with a "bachelor who makes a ton of money", than to celebrate the sex of a child we've tried for over 3 years to get pregnant with. Sorry for the enormous run on sentence. Lol. But she still insists on being the first to know? Haha. Try the last.

Sorry for the rant. Just feeling a little down in the dumps.

My parents are (shockingly) going on vacation over my due date! So I feel you lol I'm sure they will be asking my husband for updates and pictures etc if they miss the birth, of their 1st grandchild mind you... um no. I've realized if people want to be included in the big moments the will make it happen. Kinda sad though :/

I know she SHOULD know without being told, but obviously she doesn't :( maybe you just need a serious sit down about how important it is to you for her to be there. Sometimes moms just need a good dose of common sense! Lol ;)

Mmm, okay so I'll play devil's advocate here for a moment. Perhaps for her the Tony Stewart thing is a once only opportunity, at least without traveling far I assume, and she feels like she can find out the sex of the baby at any time. Or maybe its not such a big deal to her, for her to feel like missing this celebration isn't a big deal. I mean I would understand a lot more if it was the birth or a birthday or something along those lines, but it is just a gender reveal. 
As parents we want to celebrate every milestone in our child's life and for us this is a big deal, but in reality we are the ones who care the most. To others it can be just a "Eh that's cool" kinda thing. To put it bluntly they don't really care all that much.
Explain to her how much her being there means to you and then be able to compromise. If she doesn't come try not to hold it against her or maybe she can come late or leave early. As long as she makes an effort to show you she is there for you and she does love you and care then try to accept that. I totally get why you are upset, but looking at the big picture it could've been a lot worse. Congrats!

My mother in law decided to paint her front porch instead of coming to my bridal shower last year, needless to say, I don't expect much. Sorry, but if you don't come when we've planned to tell family, you'll find out when friends do! She made it personal.
