Do I have a choice of c-section or vaginal?

Hey everyone I’m currently ttc baby #2 my first was an emergency c-section baby due to her being frank breech and her not gaining weight like the docs wanted. I’m not gonna lie it was always my greatest wish and dream to have a baby but I was no lie HORRIFIED of giving birth so as dumb as it sounds when I found out she was breech and I’d have no choice I’d end up having to have her via c-section I was so relieved lol I’ve heard once you’ve had a c-section you either have to have the rest of your baby’s by c-sector you have a choice whether you have them vaginally or c-section. I’m really hoping this is true because I am still totally horrified of having a vaginal birth because a OUCHHH and b I have a genetic disorder called ehlers Danlose syndrome (not sure how to spell it) to where I lack the gene to produce cologne so I get injured easier and have a harder time healing. My mom also has it and after having kids has had over 20 hernias operated on and has major health issues no from it so it’s actually safer for me to go the c-section route to avoid all that pain.

Most doctors will give you the choice. I will say make sure you consider how many children you want to have before 100% deciding to have another c section. Labor terrifies me also, and I was also relieved when my first was a c section lol but every subsequent c section is riskier and if you plan on having 3 or more children, it may be better to try to deliver vaginally. I would have a talk with your doctor and ask them to clarify all the risks for both options and see what sounds better to you. That is what my doctor did and I am trying for a vbac this time because those risks sound better to me since we want 3-4 children! That being said, I know a handful of people that had 3 c sections and had no risks or complications but statistically, the risks go up. Good luck and baby dust to you!

I had to have a c section with my lil boy due to his heart rate dropped every time i pushed. This go around i wanted to do a v bac but they kept telling me baby girl has to come on her own and they couldn’t  induce me. So i asked why since they want me delivered by 38-39 wks they don’t want me to go over. The doctors told me that after having my first c section u have a scar on your uterus and that could rupture while trying to give birth its only a 1% chance i believe but still dint want to take that chance bc if that happened i would still end up with a c section. They also told me that since i did dilate to 10 and was able to push that i could try for a vaginal birth but i decided on a c section this go around.  So yes i would definitely talk with your doctor when the time comes.

I had a c-section due to my baby being breech. It was not an emergency c-section and I didn’t have any complications. I was told I could have a VBAC since I wasn’t even given the chance to labor and I am healthy. I would imagine you could try but I don’t know your personal health situation, you would have to talk to your doc about that.
