What do contractions feel like?

FTM. I have no clue what contractions feel like. I have had a few Braxton hicks that are painless. Today I have started having period like cramps but there is no tightening like with the Braxton Hicks. Are these actual contractions or baby moving lower? I am 39+2

Turns out they were DEFINITELY contractions! Sitting in L&D being monitored. They are consistent at 3/4 minuets apart at about a minute each and im only dilated to a 1.5 😭😭😭 I really hope I progress and dont have to be sent home 😭

I had period like cramps for about 12 hours before they became more painful and regular. I also wasn’t sure if it was labour as a ftm. It definitely was! My little girl was born the next day.

My early labor just felt like period cramps that hurt my lower belly and thighs. I didn’t think they were contractions until they got painful a few hours later.
