Can you put coconut oil on an open wound?

My surgery stitches are still fresh. My skin in that area is dry so I want to put coconut oil on it but Idk if I can put it on the actual wound

Ointment on something like stitches or a wound is used to keep bacteria from entering it. You don’t want to put coconut oil on your wound to moisturize it. Moisture and sutures don’t go together very well. Stitches have a hard time staying put and in place on wet or moisturized skin that’s why they say that you shouldn’t submerge it in baths or go swimming (and because of bacteria/infection reasons). It drying out is a sign of it healing, it’s what you want. I know it may be uncomfortable or look poorly but it’s desirable. I would suggest you leave it alone and let your body heal it’s what it does!! 😁😊

I wouldnt.... you should use an ointment made for wounds. Coco oil can be drying too (per my medical spa dr from my appt the other day which was news to me!)

No don't put oil on wounds. Oil keeps out the flow of oxygen which you need for healing. Do as your doc directed
