Breastfeeding routines ☺?

FTM...planning on breastfeeding. I've heard mixed reviews on confusing baby with nipple vs bottle.  I really want my fiance to feel that special bond with the baby that you get at feeding time but worried that baby will take to the bottle and refuse to latch.  Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?  I have heard so many mixed reviews, some babies take to the bottle and some don't seem to notice the difference...😕

At my breastfeeding meetings, they mentioned other things dad can do to bond while you're establishing breastfeeding. A couple women said the dads did all the bathtime. There's also lying them down for bed, reading to them, dad and baby skin to skin cuddling. Dad can have many opportunities to bond.

The WIC office recommends waiting 4 weeks before introducing a bottle. Dad can get involved in other ways though. Including skin to skin contact after you!

You should wait a few weeks and have dad be the one to introduce the bottle. But nipple confusion is real. This is my 2nd and I'll be the same as I was with my first and I was adamant about no pacifier in the hospital and no bottles. The nurses will comply if you tell them to. Have Dad hold the baby shirtless and they can bond that way.

My lactation consultant suggested waiting until at least 4 weeks to introduce the bottle, just to make sure  you/baby have breastfeeding down. In the meantime, dad can do bath time, diaper changes, putting baby down for naps, etc.

First things first, I believe you should consult with the lactation consultant at your hospital before you give birth. They can give you all of the information you need in order to be the most successful at BF. They can also introduce you to a breastfeeding support group where you can get tips and share stories with other BF moms. It is recommended by lactation consultants, nurses, etc. that babies not be introduced to artificial nipples in the first few weeks in order to establish good latching habits. I asked about father bonding and these same professionals say that dad can get the bonding time by participating in skin to skin contact. Also, after you feed he can be there to burp and soothe the baby using the skin to skin method. (I was instructed by a doula to not have dad shave if he has chest hair as that can be a warmer/comfort for baby-also a daddy identifier) I do not plan to use a bottle or my pump for about 4-6 weeks in order to establish good latching and a good supply that isn't hindered by pumping too early.

Thanks ladies!  I'm going to tell my fiance about the skin to skin contact as binding time.  He's fine with missing out on feeding time, I just wanted to have some ideas for other things he could do to bond with the baby.  I thank you all for your great advice!  I think just to be safe I will breastfeed only for the first 4-6 weeks.   My fiance can do diaper duty 😉😉😉

Some babies will get "nipple confusion" & some won't...  My second child had no problem at all switching from breast to bottle from very early on.  I would defiantly breastfeed exclusively as long as you can before introducing a bottle, daddy can do lots of other things with baby to bond!

I think it all depends on the baby. My brothers were both breastfed and took bottles. My sister and I were breastfed as well and neither of us would take a bottle. Just try what you want to do. That's also what I want to do. I want my husband to be able to feed our baby as well and bond with her. So I'll pump for him and he can feed her.

Depends on the child. We did pacifier, breast feeding and bottle and she had no problem. Other kids can't.
