Dress tacky for Maternity photos???!

I've bought a dress I really like but was told it would be better to do a solid color dress. It will be an out side shoot. Will the dress look tacky?

Tacky is the wrong word choice, it's definitely not tacky. But it is the wrong dress for a photo shoot. The pattern is too much for quality photos. It's not about how pretty the dress is it's about how pretty the photo is. 
I would suggest a shirt and pant combo if you want to show off your bump better. Or if your dead set on wearing a dress a solid colored dress will be much easier for the photos
