How do you avoid nursing baby to sleep?

I’ve been warned  to stop nursing baby to sleep. In theory it sounds great...but if I don’t nurse her to sleep, I end up pulling her off because she’s not finished. So she flips out because she’s still hungry and naturally won’t sleep. Help, please!

Idk what kind of idiot told you not to nurse your baby to sleep. My son is 23 months, super healthy & bright. Still nurses to sleep.

It’s natural for a baby to nurse to sleep. In fact, the hindmilk (last milk in boob), is super fatty & rich and actually MAKES your baby sleepy. God intended it this way. 
Again, don’t listen to them. Well-meaning, though they may be. 🙄

I do t know how old your babe is but like another commenter said, it won't be like this forever, they won't go to college with a nipple in their mouth. my son fell still breastfeeds at 18 months and occasionally will fall asleep at the breast. 
my advice is let baby take the lead. they let you know when they are ready to cut back.
it is such a natural way for children to fall asleep.   my mom's cousin told me that I needed to stop breastfeeding recently and that he was to old.  I responded with, " dont you worry about whose mouth my boobies are in".
at the end of the day, it's your Bond, your body, your baby.

My daughter only nurses to sleep before bed. During the day she eats, plays and then naps. I love nursing her to slerp❤️❤️❤️I will do this as long as I am breastfeeding 🤱 *Side note* when I typed breastfeeding in that emoji popped up😁👍🏻 Yay for a breastfeeding emoji 🤱🤱🤱

I agree, I’m not nursing my child to sleep because I can promise you...they will be doing it until they’re children. Our 2 year old won’t go to sleep unless you’re holding him and he has a bottle, it’s awful because it takes forever to put him to bed. It’s not sweet, it’s terrible because we never get a break. So try to find a different routine that works for you if you’d like.

It’s just considered a “prop”. It’s teaching them “here: this is how we go to sleep.” So like PP said, its cool if you’re ok with it... but I had issues with my hubby/mom/daughter trying to get the baby down to nap and it never worked. It’s definitely cozy and sweet and I love it but, at the same time, it can create sleep issues. Currently, my 4 mo nurses to sleep right before nighttime bed time simply cause i can’t keep him up and I do a dream feed scenario where I want him to have a full belly before his long stretch! But I don’t during the day... do you sister

My pediatrician said not to worry about it! She said “they won’t nurse to sleep forever. Eventually she will stop needing it and start needing sleep more and the night nursing will end” so we continue :)

I have felt pressured by friends to "sleep train" my 9 month old, as I am one of the only ones still feeding to sleep in my mom's group...but my baby is so comforted by nursing and bedtime is usually very peaceful because of our nursing to sleep routine. She doesn't go down on her own, and sometimes I feel tired/frustrated from it all, but as others have said, it won't last forever! I try to cherish the closeness since I know I will miss it one day.

I swear my breastmilk has a sedative in it bc my daughter zones straight out every time she breast feeds. Now she is still able to get full bc I have a strong let down and a ton comes out in the beginning. My husbands wishes he had “boob milk” sometimes bc she always wants momma. Lol.

I don’t nurse for naps, so little one gets lots of practice putting himself to sleep. But we do nurse at bedtime. Most of the time he falls asleep.... which I’m fine with. The nights he doesn’t he usually goes down alright since he’s not reliant on that to sleep.
