AIO or covers with prefolds for twins?

I’m a first time mom and expecting twins in a few weeks. I’ve followed this forum and read a lot online including fluff love university. My biggest dilemma is wasting money on the wrong type of cloth diapers. I can’t got the life of me decide whether to buy AIO diapers or covers using prefolds inside. I know I won’t keep up with stuffing the AIO’s and expect to at least lay the liner inside it making it basically a prefolds/cover scenario because well twin boys! I’ve been told the covers and prefolds are by far easier and cheaper but when I look for just the covers they are the same price as the AIO...so what am I missing? Does anyone have some person pros and cons from experience to help me make my decision?

I hate aios too! They’re harder to keep clean imo! Prefolds and covers all the way!!

I'm just going to say it. I hate aios! So I may sound a little biased here. Sorry for that. I know lots of people love their aios and they work for them but for me they were awful. I sold all of mine. Anyway...I use pockets and I love them. I've tried aios, pockets, and covers and pockets work best for my child. So what I'm trying to say is that what works for me doesn't work for everyone. What works for you may not work for me. So don't buy a whole stash of one kind of diaper until you try it and love it. 
Covers are definitely the easiest and the great thing about covers is that you don't need as many. If the baby just pees all you need to do is change the insert or prefold inside the cover snap back up and done. Which means less money because you won't need as many covers in your stash. The con (for me) was that it kept my baby's bottom too moist and made her red as a lobster. That's why I had to switch to pockets. The pocket has a stray dry liner keeping the moisture off her bottom. The con of pockets is stuffing but I've gotten so quick at it I can stuff 20 diapers in 10 minutes and we're good for 2 days at least. I'm not sure of any cons for aios because for me there was none. I had a leaky mess when I tried those and they take FOREVER to dry. And I mean forever. But I'm sure there are cons for some because they are used by lots. So my suggestion is to buy a few, try them, choose what works for you, then buy the rest of what you need in that.

I like my aios. I'll be using them with my next baby, who will be here when my present baby is 15 months, because I can just adjust the snaps based on which booty is being changed. You won't have that issue with twins though. 
As far as stuffing them goes, I do it while my baby plays on the floor, or while watching tv after he's been put down. It's a mindless activity to me that can be paused accordingly. 
I don't see much difference in stuffing vs re-folding your pre-folds, so whatever works for you and your babies!

I do not like aio’s at all.  
Pockets are handy for a quick grab or for others to use.  
For my at-home preference it’s my bamboo stretch half-flats with covers.  My favorite covers are Thirsties sized, but they are pricey and hard to find.  The Alva one-size are functional and cheap.  I like BB2 Minkee’s too which are medium priced but so fuzzy soft. ☺️

It’s honestly a trial and error thing. I don’t think you’ll know for sure what you love until you try it. With that being said, i wouldn’t invest in an entire stash of one thing. Best advice I ever received on here.
