Ditch anyone 'toxic', no second chances?

Personally, I feel like 'toxic' is a buzz word that is used loosely. I've seen people cut off friends// family for trivial reasons and then claim they were 'toxic'. Are you above it or do you believe in it?

Maybe, just maybe the person that is calling someone else toxic are the toxic ones themselves and dont know it 🤔
I dont think ppl are necessarily toxic though. I think that everyone is just trying to find their way in this world...we all want the same thing which is to be happy.

It’s honestly situation based. I’m not going to make a broad statement like “I cut ALL toxic people out” or “I ALWAYS forgive.”

Cut off first to regroup. Let back in if you feel you can, and as your inner strength heightens, and if their behavior is tolerable. My dad was emotionally abusive and now that he is dead I wish I’d not been so hard, that I’d given him more slack, but at the time it was my mental health on the line. I think constant re-evaluation and breaks are ok too. I now realize my dad was also abused, and his dad probably was abused, etc. So you can have empathy for someone while still taking control of your emotional health and deciding who and what you let in.

It’s definitely a buzz word. It’s used to describe a ton of things it doesn’t necessarily fit because sometimes, relationships go through turbulence that causes one or both people to act horribly but instead of exhibiting patience and trying to seek out the root cause to solve the problem, a lot of people are quick to claim “toxic, run” without knowing the full scope of the situation. That isn’t to discredit actual emotionally toxic situations when they are happening. Sometimes, the word is rooted in truth.

It depends of course on the person and how long you’ve known them and what they did or are doing. I’m all for cutting people off, my circle is super small but the whole mainstream crap of everyone always saying “good vibes” and “no toxic people” and all that is way overly said and people get on my nerves with that. Obviously I’m not saying allowing toxic people is okay but hopefully you get what I’m saying.

If someone feels that a person or situation is toxic to them, then it's toxic. I dont see why the context in which it's used is that big of a deal since it seems more circumstantial than anything.

What’s toxic to one person may not be to another. People are allowed to decide who they let in their lives. Especially since we become like the people we spend the most time with.

Or maybe they really were toxic and you just don’t know the whole story. Only the person saying they were toxic can determine whether they were toxic
