Daycare says my 1 yr old needs THERAPY????

Kelsey

My son has been biting at daycare. He’s 15 months old and what it boils down to is he gets bored and there’s no discipline so he thinks he can get away with it.

He doesn’t bite at home because he knows he won’t get away with it.

So the director of the daycare said I need to put him in THERAPY to figure out what is best for THEM to do at daycare....

1) I’m not paying for that

2) How is therapy supposed to be effective when he only says 20 words and I don’t experience his biting so I can’t speak for him?

3) They can try time out for starters. They say they don’t do time out. So when he bites, they just move him away.

Am I wrong for feeling this way?

Did any of you have a biter? And what did u do?

****UPDATE****

The daycare director decided for us to try using a pacifier clip on his shirt and attach a teething toy so when he bites they will put the teething toy in his mouth and say “no we bite this.”

The other kids ended up spending most of the day trying to pull the teething toy off of him and he obviously was frustrated with that and he bit one of the kids on the hand when the kid tried to grab it. The teacher understood his frustration at that point and pulled him aside to talk to him.

We are still waiting for his Dr. appointment to talk about something else we can try. But the daycare is trying to work with me on possible solutions for the mean time.

He also did not appreciate the teacher trying to put his teething toy in his mouth lol
