Cracked nipples or raw ?

When first starting out did you guys get cracked or raw ? 
What’s worse ? 
Does raw mean your doing it wrong ? 
I’m a FTM here, 10 days PP. I’m raw, but healing really well (still feeding) I just want to know if that means I started out wrong or if it just depends on your body & LO.
-also baby girl has tongue tie but she’s learning to stretch it.

I’ve always been under the impression that if baba is latched properly, you shouldn’t be too sore. There’s obviously going to be some soreness as your nipples aren’t used to being wet majority of the time but nothing that a bit of barrier cream can’t help. I had some soreness but it appears that my LO has a tongue tie, though I seem to have been lucky as the soreness was completely bearable and we’re comfortable feeding now

Mine were very raw for the first few weeks. Those gel pads helped tremendously and so did lanolin. I remember you saying your LO has a tongue tie. Were y0u able to get that fixed?
