Outside Options Plzzz!

This guys and i have been really close friends for a few years but only see each others every now and then because of long distance and always talked about intimate stuff. But he know might start dating this girl later this year after he works through some stuff so thought the texting a lot and having conversations about sexual things would stop, but he is actually texting me more and sending me semi nudes to get my opinion and stuff. You see i like him but i don't know if he likes me should i ask about the other girl or would that just make it akward.
