UPDATE: Ladies help! NIPT Has anyone gotten false positve NIPT

Hey all,

Freaking out here. Was scheduled to see doc on 21st for blood test results. Blood taken at 10w6d. He called me in today. All I squeezed out of him was he's not happy with the test results. I read a bunch on how test works and all but I want to hear from personal experience. I still don't know anything because I'm on my way to the doctor. Will post updates when I have. In the mean time... Please anyone with any sort of experience. I'm 11w6d today and 43.

UPDATE

T18 trisomy PPV 88.1%. Doctor recommended termination. Tomorrow. I want to do CVS. Tomorrow.

Looking for a genetic counselor. Any suggestions please

So we did ultrasound first. 2 days after the news at 12w2d and NT measured normal, heart, liver and not sure what else they were checking, but all was normal. Ultrasound in 14 week or early, as in my case is 92.7% accurate, which was great newS. I was scheduled for CVS on Monday, yesterday and we got a call today with FISH results. Only 2 chromosomes found of 13,18,21 and X. I am beyond happy and relieved. We're waiting for the detailed results, however doctor told us to not worry and there's only 1% chance results may differ.

Bottom line is, as accurate as NIPT may be for T21, t18 and T13 gives higher rate of "false positive" as it's not really a positive either. It detects higher levels of a chromosome and then statistically calculates the possibility of accuracy. Don't panic, consult with a genetic counselor, do imaging and diagnostic tests. Until then - think positive and pray! Ask all your friends and relatives to pray. The more prayers the more powerful they are. I wish all of you mamas happy and healthy!!!
