Contractions?

Question

Hi ladies. How can you tell if you’re having contractions, Braxton Hicks, or if it’s just the baby’s position? I have intense upper abdominal pain that varies in intensity. I can feel it throughout my stomach and my back. There’s no pattern it’s just painful and repositioning doesn’t help. I do plan on calling my doctor. I’m just asking for opinions. I never really felt painful contractions with my first so I have no clue what it would even feel like. Thanks ladies.

Mine felt like intense period cramps that would come and go in a pattern. They were much lower than I expected and really felt just like period cramps but way more intense.

The ache before labor is alot like trapped gas that never comes lol

I cant tell the difference until im atleadt an hour or 2 in. I do notice before the contractions started both labors i had a weird ache in my lower abdomen for the whole day. They contractions are much sharper than BH but the odd BH can also be sharp at times

For me braxton hicks were always more up top and regular contractions were down low by my pubic bone like horrible period cramps

Braxton Hicks usually stomach gets hard and get pains on your back and they don’t last usually resting and drinking water helps. Actual labor pains are more consistent and don’t go away the pains usually vary in locations might want to call your doctor.

That sounds like braxtons to me. I get them all the time it’s just your body’s way of preparing for labor.
