I’m having problems at school and want to quit theater 😞 advice please

I am in theater at my school (I’m a sophomore) and I did it last year too. We have one big musical a year and then little plays that aren’t as big of a deal. Most freshman are put in dance ensemble for the musical but I was given a bigger role because of my experience with musicals and my vocal range. The upperclassmen were annoyed and gave me problems with it all year. Now this years musical, the lead’s songs fit my vocal register perfectly so I obviously wanted to audition for that part. Everyone is saying that there’s no sense in even auditioning for it because it will automatically go to me because they think I’m the directors favorite and that he specifically chose this musics so I could be the lead. They’re giving me such a hard time that I don’t even know if I want to do it anymore. I’ll be spending months and months including long nights with these people and I don’t want to feel uncomfortable the whole time. I don’t know what to do 😔 and the director is fond of me but it’s because I take music and theater seriously as I really love it
