STD Tests results

Hey ladies.

So my boyfriend and I of 1 year just broke up... so that makes him my ex, haven't gotten used to saying it yet. An he's the first person I've ever had sex with. I know he's had sexual partners prior to me though. I really want to get checked for any possible sexual diseases or anything just to be on the safe side and I wanted to know,

1. Hypothetically if I did have any diseases, how long after would it show up in my analysis. (For example, I've heard aids takes a few weeks even months to find out)

2. Where do you go to take these tests?

3. What type of tests are there and what should I do ?

I did trust him and all but still, always a good thing to check I think.
