Rh incompatibility

Hi ladies. So with my first baby my doctor never tested for Rh incompatibility and I never got a rhogam shot during my pregnancy like I should have. When my son was born he was severely jaundice and was admitted to the nicu twice before they were finally able to get his levels to stay in a safe range. I did get a shot after he was born.

Now I’m pregnant with my second and my doctor said I definitely should have been given the shot during pregnancy last time. I am scheduled to have one later in this pregnancy. I’ve read some on google about it and I’ve read that if your body already produced antibodies from a previous pregnancy then you’d be considered high risk and will have to be monitored more closely with the second.

Should I be worried that I wasn’t given the shot the first time? Are there more risks this time? I don’t see my doctor again for a few more weeks and I didn’t know enough about it during my last pregnancy to really have many questions. Does anyone have experience with this? Anything I should know or be careful of?
