Mucus plug

Question after question for me...

So I went in last night having bad contractions but wasn’t dilating.. they checked me a few times got home and later on had brown discharge now I know that can happen with the checking of the cervix but then I went back in another time for being in so much pain and I couldn’t keep anything down. Anyways I went to the bathroom today and my panty liner was full of brown discharge that looked like could have been my mucus plug.. or is it not my mucus plug and just from them checking me..?
