Possible blighted ovum

I am currently laying in an ER. I’m only 5.5wks but the doctor did an external pelvic ultrasound and was able to locate the sac in my uterus but said that it’s not developed normal. He cannot find the embryo. I’m wondering who else has dealt with this and what are your recommendations. Should I wait and ask to be retested in a few days time or?

Update: he did the ultrasound a second time as the nurse had me empty my bladder before the first one and he figured he’d get a clearer picture with a full bladder. This time he “thinks” there’s a fetal pole but is sending me tomorrow to have an transvaginal ultrasound. Fingers crosses there’s a comfy baby in there.
