35 week scare

I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow, I was trying to go number 2 and was straining really hard and suddenly the toilet filled with blood from my vagina. so I just started crying and didnt know what to do. I finished wiping and noticed it wasnt continuing to bleed but there was a lot of blood in the toilet so I was still scared. i called the hospital and the nurse said it was probably a blood vessel that burst. if i started cramping, continued bleeding, or didnt feel baby movement, to go in. but I wasnt cramping or bleeding any more but I hadnt remembered feeling the baby so I drank some cold water and laid on my left side and within 30 minutes I felt a few movements a hiccups so I was reassured. but has anything like this happened to anyone else? I shouldn't be bleeding this far into pregnancy!
