Frustrated with Dr visit

So I took my child to see her GP for the first time... she has a Pedi but I took her for a meet and greet with our family Dr.

First question the Dr asks me is “What formula is she on?”

“Um. She’s not. Breastfed and D drops only.”

“No formula to supplement?”

“No?”

“Why not?”

“She hasn’t needed it and breastmilk is better for my child.”

*insert his sigh*

Like...WTF.

“Mmmk. You know at 4 months breastmilk can no longer sustain your child?”

Double wtf.

We will not be returning to this guy. This is part of the problem of why so many mothers who WANT to breastfeed end up not. We put our trust in medical professionals, so when formula is pushed like that, we think we must not be feeding our child enough with the breast or that our child is not healthy.

If you choose to formula feed, for whatever reason, medical or not, that’s perfectly okay! What bothers me in this situation is that we were having ZERO problems with breastfeeding or weight gain and formula was pushed so hard along with just plain incorrect information.
