Joint Shower or Long Distance Shower?

Emily • TTC #2

So my younger sister and I are very close in age and as friends. We grew up with similar hobbies, personalities, friends, etc. Now we just found out that we are expecting our first babies just 4 weeks apart! We had been trying for two years and they heard our challenges and started trying and boom! Preggers! We are both so excited, but the only problem is that my husband and I live in Georgia and she, her husband, and my parents live in Illinois.

We've come to terms that it will be months before we each meet our niece or nephew, and we won't be able to be at each other's birth, but we really want to be able to at least celebrate at each other's shower.

What's the best way for us to coordinate a baby shower? Anyone out there with a similar experience?

Do we try to do a joint shower? Do I get stuck with an awkward long distance shower for my first? I don't want to ask our mom to host two showers just weeks away...for the same family. The only difference in guests would be a small handful of friends. Any ideas?
